In a picturesque eco-resort in the Netherlands, Eline Liezen and her husband were njoying what they called a “zero-carbon holiday” at Park Reeuwijkse Plassen. Featuring 267 individual holiday bungalows, the resort park is redefining sustainable tourism and has become a model for Europe’s green tourism transformation.
Faced with the dual challenges of protecting the natural landscape and meeting growing energy demands, the resort partnered with Hoymiles and SolarKing to build a future-ready solar and energy storage system. Offering guests a truly zero-carbon holiday experience, the resort demonstrates that tourism and clean energy can thrive together.

Their Story
When aesthetics, ecology, and energy needs collide
The resort is nestled in a scenic natural environment, which is an advantage for tourism but also a challenge for utility infrastructure. A suitable energy system must:
Have an aesthetic harmony with the environment—blending seamlessly with the landscape without disturbing the guest experience.
Have high efficiency and excellent performance—overcoming irregular roof orientations and complex roof structures that make installation and power generation far from straightforward.
Traditional string inverter solutions were not a suitable option in this setting. Different panel orientations and shading would cause significant energy loss, limiting the whole system from reaching ideal performance levels.
“Our best wish was to keep this landscape untouched while fulfilling our environmental commitment,” said Marcel Glaser, the resort park manager. “Given the scale and unique environmental conditions of the resort, we needed a partner we could truly rely on. Hoymiles and SolarKing were the answer.”

Their Solution
Smart solar design with Hoymiles microinverters
Hoymiles microinverters became the key to accomplishing this complex project.
Thanks to the advanced module-level MPPT technology, Hoymiles microinverters are able to maximize the output of each PV module regardless of shading and less optimistic conditions. This eliminates the “barrel effect” common in string systems.
The flexible 1-in-1, 2-in-1 and 4-in-1 product offers also make it possible to fully utilize the available rooftop space based on the villa’s actual structure at the most cost-effective price.
The compact, low-voltage design of the microinverters makes installation safer and faster, ensuring that guests’ peaceful vacation experience remains uninterrupted.
Each bungalow was equipped with its own solar power system. Altogether, nearly 1,000 microinverters were flexibly deployed across the resort park, blending perfectly into the resort’s aesthetics while maximizing energy capture from every ray of sunlight.

From green power to energy independence
Power generation was only the first step.
To build a fully sustainable energy ecosystem, Hoymiles and SolarKing integrated residential energy storage systems with the solar array, creating a seamless generate–store–use loop. Therefore, surplus energy can be stored in batteries and used after the sun sets. This boosted the resort’s energy self-sufficiency and reduced its reliance on the grid.
Key energy storage products used in the project are:
HYT-8.0HV-EUG1 three-phase hybrid inverter: The hybrid inverter enables bidirectional energy conversion from DC to AC and AC to DC, so that excess energy the microinverters produce can be stored in batteries for later use.
HB-(10-23)S-G2 high-voltage battery: The stacked battery stores the clean energy the system produces. Through the intelligent BMS (battery management system), it can charge and discharge power in the most effective and economical way.

Their Success
A scalable model for green tourism
For guests like Eline and her husband, the system means more than just reliable electricity. Real-time energy data allows them to see and feel their contribution to environmental protection,
turning an ordinary vacation into a meaningful experience.
“When staying here, you don’t just enjoy nature. You experience how technology and environmental protection go hand in hand to make things better,” said Eline.
“Hoymiles has proven to be a trustworthy partner not only in microinverters but also in providing a complete solar + storage solution,” said a SolarKing spokesperson. “It’s what made true energy independence possible for the resort.”
This Dutch eco-resort has proven that even in architecturally complex and environmentally sensitive settings, Hoymiles’ solar + storage solutions deliver unmatched flexibility, stability, and long-term value. This project stands as a replicable green tourism model, paving the way for sustainable energy transformation in resorts around the world.
