While roof-top solar is a natural choice for the homeowner, shading and the stringent local restrictions still pose challenges to the project. Traditional string solar inverters operate at the string level, meaning that the performance of the entire solar array is influenced by the shading of even a single panel. This is apparently not an ideal solution for this house whose roof can be shaded by the surrounding trees every now and then.
