  • Innovative installation combines residential and commercial solar in urban setting

When Comsys Corporation Limited embarked on this solar project in Bangkok, they faced an unusual challenge: integrating a new 80.74 kW system across both residential and commercial properties.

This innovative project – which won the Excellence Award in C&I PV for Asia-Pacific – demonstrates how solar power can be successfully adapted to complex, mixed-use scenarios in urban environments.

Let's explore how this Bangkok installation overcame unique obstacles to deliver a high-performance, dual-purpose solar system.

  • Their Story

Adapting to mixed urban solar requirements

This solar installation wasn't just a simple residential or commercial setup – it required integrating solar power across a house and a factory, each with its own energy needs and constraints.

    Specific challenges included:

    • Dual-purpose installation: The system needed to serve both a residential building (40.37 kW) and an industrial space (also 40.37 kW).

    • Integration with existing infrastructure: The factory already had a 200 kW string inverter system in place, but this wasn't sufficient for the entire system.

    • Shared resources: The house draws electricity from the factory and shares a single electricity meter.

These factors combined to create a complex energy ecosystem. The team needed to design a system that could work with the existing factory setup while also powering the residential space.

  • Their Solution

    Hoymiles microinverters bridge the gap

To address the project's challenges, Comsys Corporation Limited turned to Hoymiles, deploying 36 HMS-2000-4T microinverters across the installation. Their choice was driven by several factors:

    • Safety: Hoymiles microinverters offer enhanced safety features – critically important for a mixed-use installation.

    • Warranty: The superior warranty offered by Hoymiles provided confidence in long-term performance.

    • Flexibility: The microinverter system could seamlessly integrate with the existing string inverter setup.

The 80.74 kW system was strategically divided:

    • 40.37 kW for the house

    • 40.37 kW for the factory, complementing an existing 200 kW string inverter system

This design allowed for optimized energy production and consumption across both spaces, ensuring that the residential area could benefit from the industrial setup’s capacity while adding to the overall system output.

  • Their Success

An 80.74 kW dual-purpose solar system in Bangkok powers both a home and factory, demonstrating how complex urban properties can benefit from integrated solar solutions.

  • A new blueprint for urban energy

The finished project has delivered excellent results. The new 80.74 kW system vastly boosted overall output, meeting energy demands across both the house and the factory.

The microinverter setup was vital considering the complex arrangement, which involves the house drawing power from the factory.

The microinverters' modular nature also means the system can be easily expanded or modified as needs change.

By successfully integrating residential and industrial solar applications, Comsys Corporation Limited has created a blueprint for future mixed-use solar installations.

As cities grow and evolve, installations like this one will contribute to a more sustainable, greener future for all.

It serves as an exemplary model for future mixed-use solar installations – which is part of the reason that it earned the Excellence Award in C&I PV for Asia-Pacific.
